The following information will assist you in maximizing your enjoyment of OutdoorAction.Com.
Schedule: New episodes are posted each Sunday night by midnight and are available on the main page for one week. After this time, the shows are moved to the "Archive" where the entire season of each series is available.
System Requirements: This site requires a Windows Media 9 Player. Older versions of the player are not supported. Without Windows Media 9 Player installed on your computer this site will not work correctly. If you do not have the latest player, click the "get player" link above. Download and install according to directions. This site is optimized for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6sp2 and 1024x768 resolution and the highest color setting your monitor allows. You can check your monitor settings by right-clicking on the desktop and choosing "properties". Use the "settings" tab to check your resolution and color settings.
Bandwidth: Streaming media is completely dependent on having the required bandwidth to receive a stream. These shows are encoded at 384k. You must have a high speed DSL, cablemodem, or T-1 connection to view these programs. The program streams originate from Los Angeles and travel worldwide down the main fiber paths. In rural areas, even a high speed connection may not truly provide a constant bitrate high enough to receive a perfect stream. Read on for instructions on how to check your available bandwidth.
Player features: Right-clicking in the video window will provide player controls. You can stop, resume, etc. On the player's menu click "view" and "statistics". A bandwidth monitor will appear that will give you the "current" and "average" bandwidth available. If the "current" amount is less than the media requires (350k) then the video may chop until bandwidth becomes available. If the "average" bandwidth is less than 350k then the video will stop altogether or produce a "slide show" effect.
Error Messages: The player produces error messages if a stream cannot be delivered. The most common are "File not found" and "Unable to connect to the server". "File not found" is a linking error that rarely if ever happens. "Unable to connect to the server" is more common and results when more viewers try to connect simultaneously than our outgoing bandwidth will accommodate. We have a full 100mbs connection to the internet equal to over 60 T-1 lines. This bandwidth will accommodate 300 simultaneous views. If more viewers than 300 try to connect at any given time, the "unable to connect" error will result. Usually within 30 minutes the problem will resolve as shows finish playing and bandwidth becomes available.
