Americana Outdoors ventured over to Bossier City, Louisiana to bring you coverage of the 7th annual Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open Bowfishing Championship! Founded by John Paul Morris, this competition has catapulted bowfishing into the tournament spotlight. At the same time, this one of a kind tournament has paved the way for bowfishing to become one of the fastest growing water sports today. This year, 118 teams from 23 states competed in the tournament. At this event, we had the exciting opportunity to browse through the most efficient bows and gear out there, such as the Osprey Oneida Eagle Bow! You’ll also get a first hand look at what’s in store for the latest models of top of the line bowfishing boats in the industry!
These die hard bow fishermen weathered some rough conditions for the duration of the tournament, but the thunderstorms couldn’t keep these guys down! The competitors successfully removed over 58,000 pounds of invasive species from area rivers. These invasive species included Carp, Buffalo, Gar, and Suckers, that have been plaguing the lakes and rivers. Tune in and see which teams came out on top at the 2019 U.S. Open Bowfishing Championship! This year, the championship will be held on April 25th – 26th at the Bass Pro Shops Shooting Academy in Ridgedale, MO, and stretches across four different lakes bowfishing anglers can choose from. The lakes include Bull Shoals Lake, Table Rock Lake, Truman Reservoir, and Beaver Lake.
