This week on Americana Outdoors, we’re wrapping up this exciting two part event covering the 2nd annual Yamaha Turkey Bass Smash! To recap last week, Team Middleton finished off with a strong lead when they harvested the biggest bird of the day, earning them 58.14 points. Team Hanselman with Yamaha Outboards harvested a turkey as well and secured a strong second place standing. Team Reynolds and Team Combs found themselves needing to make up some serious ground coming into day two in order to have a chance at winning this years title.
To kick things off for day two of this fierce competition, our teams have made a quick trip over to Amistad Reservoir for the bass fishing portion of the tournament. Amistad Reservoir is known for its healthy population of largemouth bass and prime fishing opportunities during the spawning season. Today our competitors will be going out on the water with some pretty decent conditions. With cloudy skies and pressure rising, our guys can look forward to getting lots of bites.
With the competition underway, our first place team reels in a score-able fish early on in the morning and sets the stage for the rest of the day. As we hop between boats, we’ll see each team fighting tooth and nail to reel in as many fish as they can, and in the process, even witness some heartbreaking moments on the water not unlike what they experienced with turkeys the day before. We haven’t seen any giants on the water this year, but we’ve certainly seen more numbers than in the previous year.
By the end of the day, all of the teams have reeled in huge numbers of bass. Between the four teams, a total of 221 score-able fish were caught today on Amistad Reservoir! Be sure to tune in and don’t miss out on the final standings announcements, where we’ll learn which team will be crowned the champions of the 2nd annual Yamaha Turkey Bass Smash!
