Gone Fishing

This week on Americana Outdoors, we’re joining Wade Middleton and Clark Wendlandt as they take on the taxing task of fishing on a windy day, and explain how they use the wind to their advantage in these scenarios.  More often than not, we see anglers jump at the chance to hop in their boat and set across the water on a sunny blue bird day, but most fail to take advantage of the colder, cloudy, and gloomy days.  On these days, you may find you have the entire lake to yourself because no one wants to venture out in less than ideal weather, and, you could very well reel in more fish than you would on a sunny day!  Clark also gives us a run down of how to position your boat on exceptionally windy days, what type of bait he likes to fish in these conditions, and his favorite line type for paring with the bait.
Later, we’re hopping over to Lake Bastrop with Wade where he’s fishing grass beds on yet another cloudy, overcast day, and breaking in his new Ranger Z521L and Garmin Force™ Trolling Motor.  This is promising to be an exciting new season of fishing for Wade, as getting a new boat means testing out the latest and greatest equipment to go along with it and showing everyone how they can make the most out of their new toys!  One of the most exciting additions on his new boat, is the brand new Garmin Force™ Trolling Motor, and this marks the first time we have a chance to take it out on the water and test out the sheer power it produces. we’ll also be taking a look at the new Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Carbonlite 2.0 Spinning rods and reels Wade has on deck, and just how versatile these rod and reel combos are on the water.
Last, but certainly not least, we’re meeting up with several tournament anglers as they describe why the Secret Lures Stupid Tube™ is their favorite bass catchin’ lure!  Every angler has a story of a time when they’ve been out on the water and get out-fished by their buddies.  Well, these guys have shared in those experiences and are here to tell you how the Stupid Tube™ has saved their day and turned around their luck on the water!  From helping Derek Buchanan win the BLF co-angler of the year, to sending Matt McCoy to the Bassmaster Classic, this tube has a winning history that appeals to not only the avid tournament anglers, but also the guys who enjoy spending relaxing weekends on the water.  We’ll also take a look at how to rig this bait, explained by none other than the pioneer of the Stupid Tube™ himself, Terry McWilliams.
