Ice Fishing in Minnesota and setting up Garmin Panoptix

For the first time in his life, host Wade Middleton goes ice fishing! During this episode of the Bass Pro Shops Fisherman’s Handbook we head to the frozen tundra of Minnesota to catch a few fish through the ice. With the help of the Garmin Panoptix Ice Fishing Bundle, Wade manages to catch a lot of small fish while also learning about this great technology that kept him entertained and learning the whole trip. And later, find out how to properly set up Panoptix on your boat, as well as how to mount the transducer for optimum output.

Ice fishing is not for the faint of heart. Cold, windy conditions can be harsh enough to scare off the most extreme anglers. For those brave enough to take to the frozen lakes in search of fish, having the right equipment is extremely important. When it comes to fishing gear, Garmin Panoptix is one of those “must haves”. This extraordinary technology from Garmin allows anglers to see a real time image of what is happening directly beneath them. As you will learn in this episode, you can even see the fish take the bait live on the screen!

Panoptix is also extremely applicable in situations when anglers are fishing out of a boat. The transducer can provide images both in front of and beneath the boat. Before you can start catching fish on the water, it is key to get everything dialed in and installed. We will show you the settings needed to get the best reading on the screen of your Garmin. Following that, we will take a look at the transducer, and discuss how it works when mounted to the trolling motor.
